The first workshop was conducted between 3rd and 10th of March 2000 on "Application of PCR in human health" with Prof. Paturu Kondaiah as Workshop Coordinator, Mr. Moloy Goswami and Mr. G. Ramesh as Demonstrators. The morning session was devoted to invited lectures as follows:

The afternoon session was devoted to practicals on:
1. Isolation of Genomic DNA from blood.
2. Restriction digestion of Genomic DNA and southern blot analysis.
3. Isolation of peripheral lymphocytes and extraction of RNA.
4. DNA and RNA - PCR amplification.
5. DNA sequencing (manual and automated).
6. Developing blots, Analysis of results, discussion, visit to Divisional
facilities etc.
